"Harmonious Wail" and more coming up courtesy of North Shore Music Association
The North Shore Music Association has announced its upcoming winter and spring events. Included on the list are:
* Jan. 11 – Harmonious Wail, a trio from Madison, Wis. who feature vocals laced among jazzy mandolin and guitar; an infectious blend of continental jazz, swing, gypsy music, and melodic vocals. Performance and community dance at North House Folk School.
* Feb. 15 – Grand Marais Ole Opry, a classic country showcase featuring regional and local musicians including longtime A Prairie Home Companion dobro and steel guitar master Cal Hand and his daughter, Grand Marais singer/songwriter Amanda Hand.
* March 15 – Gordy Walsh Anger Quartet. Denver-based jazz and bluegrass guitar-slinger Grant Gordy (of the David Grisman Sextet) joins Darol Anger (Grammy-nominated legendary fiddler who has collaborated with Bela Fleck, Willie Nelson, and Tony Rice, and plays the theme music to NPR's Car Talk with Earl Scruggs and David Grisman), mandolin maven Joe Walsh (of the Gibson Brothers, recent winners of the "Entertainer of the Year" award at the International Bluegrass Music Awards who has played with Bela Fleck, John Scofield, Ricky Skaggs, Emmylou Harris, Jonathan Edwards and more), and Karl Doty (member of the self-conducted orchestra A Far Cry, who has toured nationally and internationally with the Grammy-award-winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and served as guest principal bass with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra).
* April 26 – Peter Yarrow, best known as part of the folk trio Peter, Paul & Mary and author of the classic children's song Puff the Magic Dragon, Yarrow is no less than a legend for many Baby Boomers and the generations who followed. His message of social consciousness and humanitarian work continue through to the present day.
Tickets for Arrowhead Center for the Arts shows generally go on sale one month before each performance date. Tickets for events held at North House Folk School and area town halls are sold at the door only, night of event. Schedule is subject to change.
