North Shore Federal Credit Union open for business in Grand Portage
Ever since the North Shore Federal Credit Union (NSFCU) announced in June that it was opening its fourth branch office in Grand Portage inside the Grand Portage Trading Post, community members have been anxiously awaiting the opening. The new branch office was opened at the end of October and last week, on Thursday, November 21, the NSFCU board of directors made it official with a ribbon cutting.
NSFCU President Mark Summers said, “We are very excited to have the opportunity to serve the community of Grand Portage. Opening this office fits perfectly with the mission of North Shore Federal, which is to provide the best financial services and education to everyone who lives along the North Shore, from Two Harbors to Grand Portage.”
It was a week of celebrating at the new credit union branch from November 18 – 22. There were daily drawings and goodies with a final grand prize. The winners of the daily drawings won $25 certificates from the Grand Portage Trading Post. The daily winners were Darlene LeGarde, Hattie Pepion, Garrett Swader, and Kathy Swader, all of Grand Portage.
Hanging on the wall of the new credit union branch was a nice display of entries in the kids’ coloring contest. All of the participants were entered in a drawing for a trip to The Edge Waterpark in Duluth. The winner was Debra Burton, 3, of Grand Portage.
A final contest for a “Portage Package” runs through the end of the month. Anyone stopping by to sign up for direct deposit or similar services will be entered in that drawing.
The full-service branch will serve the northeastern section of NSFCU’s membership area with a full line of consumer and commercial financial services. Branch Manager is Samantha LaBoda, assisted by Member Services Representative Jaye Clearwater. They encourage community members to stop by to visit and take care of credit union business on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 12 – 5 p.m.
NSFCU, with $132 million in assets and 8,100 members, currently has locations in Silver Bay, Lutsen and Grand Marais.
