Retro Rock Revue rocks at Grand Portage Lodge & Casino this weekend

The Grand Portage Lodge and Casino Retro Rock Revue Weekend, Northern Minnesota’s biggest 70s, 80s and 90s rock music festival, returns to the north shore of Lake Superior, Friday June 29th and Saturday June 30.
But this year the Retro Rock Revue will be more than a celebration of classic rock music, it will also be a major fundraising event, with 100 percent of ticket sales being donated to Thunder Bay Flood Fund, through the Canadian Red Cross.
“When we heard about the families affected by the flood we wanted to help out. The Retro Rock Revue is the biggest event on the North Shore and always pulls in a big crowd and that’s why we’ve chosen to donate all of our ticket sales to the flood relief effort”, said Frank Vecchio, Director of Marketing for Grand Portage Lodge and Casino. “We realized that even though the event is four weeks away, help was needed right now. So we chose to donate $10,000 dollars up front with the rest of the money to come after the event.”
On Friday June 29th, rock out under the Big Top on Lake Superior’s shore with Thunder Bay’s The Hoolies, playing classic rock covers, followed by world famous #1 Kiss tribute act, the phenomenal Kiss Army Live! With identical makeup, outrageous outfits, classic instruments and top-notch musicianship, Kiss Army rules!
And on Saturday June 30th, get down to the smooth sounds of Boogie Wonderland, Minnesota’s number one 70's Disco Dance band, at 2pm. Then, turn up the rock with Led Zeppelin tribute, The Zep Show, from 6pm. And at 9pm, headliners Smash Mouth take to the stage with their very own brand of 60s-influenced garage band pop
Since its formation in 1994, Smash Mouth has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. Along with their number one hits – Walkin' on the Sun and All Star – they have consistently impacted radio with other recognizable hits like Then the Morning Comes, Can't Get Enough Of You Baby, and a cover of The Monkees classic I'm a Believer, which was prominently featured on the Shrek soundtrack. A quick listen to their music and you realize the multi-platinum Smash Mouth have created a sound that is all their own. Having long since established itself as the ultimate true-to-life California party-band the vibe surrounding Smash Mouth is indeed – at its core – about having fun.
