Rogue Anti-Spyware

There are many anti-spyware products out there, and unfortunately most of them are "rogue" anti-spyware.  These programs either a) always tell you you're infected (even if you're not) so you'll buy the product, while failing to protect you against many real threats, b) use deceptive means to install themselves on your computer without your consent, and/or c) actually download more spyware onto your computer.  Antivirus 2008 or Antivirus 2009 is one of the most common rogue spyware programs we see.

Before installing any anti-spyware, check the lists at Spyware Warrior and Malwarebytes to make sure it's not listed as a Rogue.
