Every Time I Check My Mail, I Get Disconnected

If you use Outlook Express or Eudora for your email, this is probably being caused by a setting in your email software.  To fix this:

  1. Outlook Express:
    • Open Outlook Express and click on the Tools menu. Select Options.
    • Click the Connections tab in the window that appears.  If there's a checkmark in front of "Hang up after sending and receiving", this is the problem.  Click it to uncheck it, then click OK.
  2. Eudora:
    • Open Eudora and click on the Tools menu.  Select Options.
    • Scroll down the left side of the screen and find Internet Dial-up, and click on it.
    • If "Hang up after receiving and sending" is checked, this is the problem.  Click it to uncheck it and click OK.
