The IRRR will hold a special board reorganization meeting on Wednesday, March 26, at 8:30 a.m. at the Centennial Office Building in St. Paul, MN. Members of the public may attend the meeting in person or virtually.

IRRR Board Vice Chair Representative Roger Skraba called the special meeting to select a new chair after former Senator and IRRR Board Chair Justin Eichorn resigned from the MN Senate on March 20.

The agenda and virtual meeting link are on the IRRR website here.

The Minnesota Department of Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation (IRRR) announced it would schedule a special reorganization board meeting in a press release sent on March 20. Earlier in the day, former Minnesota Senator Justin Eichorn, who was the IRRR board chair, resigned after he was charged with soliciting a minor in a sting operation.

According to the Associated Press, Eichorn sent an email to Governor Walz stating,
“I must focus on personal matters at this time. It has been an honor to serve in the Minnesota Senate.” If Eichorn had not resigned, Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson told reporters that Senate members were prepared to vote to expel him due to the severeness of the charges.

In the IRRR release, the department stated, "As a result of today's resignation by former Sen. Justin Eichorn from the Minnesota State Senate, he is no longer a state senator and therefore no longer the chair of the Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation (IRRR) Board."

Minnesota Representative Roger Skraba, who is vice chair on the board, "initiated the call" for the special meeting to select a new chair and reorganize the board. More information will be provided in the future.
