Hundreds of Cook County community members participated in the "Hands Off! National Day of Action" protest against President Donald Trump and Elon Musk on April 5.

Over 1,200 events were planned across all 50 states, and early numbers estimate that around 3 million people participated. According to Reuters, hundreds of people protested against President Trump and Musk in several European cities.

The event in Cook County began at the Courthouse in Grand Marais at noon and featured several speakers before the crowds marched to Harbor Park. An estimated 300-400 people attended.
In Duluth, hundreds of protesters gathered at Duluth City Hall, where Attorney General Keith Ellison spoke. In Superior, over 400 people gathered on both sides of the street near the Douglas County building.
A Minnesota State Patrol officer estimated that 25,000 people attended the protest at the State Capitol in St. Paul, Minnesota.

According to The Associated Press, the "Hands Off!" protests were the "biggest day of demonstrations yet by an opposition movement trying to regain its momentum after the shock of the Republicans’ first weeks in office."
